Brazil Mountain Adventure before Tomorrowland
Agulhas Negras 2787m and Prateleiras 2539m - Itatiaia National Park
This itinerary was designed for travellers coming to São Paulo or Itu for the Tomorrowland Festival who want to add a real nature experience before the event, without having to worry about logistics. The idea is simple: you arrive in São Paulo at the agreed time, meet our team at Barra Funda Station, and from that moment on we take care of everything — transport, accommodation, scheduled meals, park entrance fees, guides, trail snacks and the organisation of the mountain activities.
Our base will be Picus Hostel, near Itamonte, in Minas Gerais, in a strategic location for accessing the Upper Part of Itatiaia National Park. Accommodation is already included in shared rooms with another person of the same gender, as well as the dinners and breakfasts listed in the itinerary. For the ascents, professional guides, technical safety equipment, transport to and from the park entrance and full support during the activities are also included. If you do not have some of the personal mountain equipment required, we will also provide guidance and, for specific items, rental or purchase options when available.
During the trip, we will climb two of Brazil’s classic mountains: Agulhas Negras and Pico das Prateleiras. The activities combine hiking, rocky terrain, exposed sections and short protected climbing passages, always with professional guidance and the use of safety equipment whenever necessary. The goal is for you to experience real Brazilian mountaineering with everything already organised and made easy: you just need to arrive prepared, follow the guides’ instructions and enjoy the experience.
After the mountains, the itinerary finishes with direct transport to Itu, arriving in time to rest and get into the Tomorrowland mood. It is an ideal option for anyone looking for something to do before Tomorrowland in São Paulo, wanting to discover one of Brazil’s most beautiful mountain areas and preferring a complete, safe and well-organised experience without having to put the entire logistics together independently.
Itinerário
Itatiaia National Park Peaks – Agulhas Negras & Prateleiras – 4 days

Day 1 – Monday, 26/04/2027 – São Paulo → Picus Hostel, Itamonte
Meeting at Barra Funda Station, in São Paulo, for departure by private van to Picus Hostel, near the town of Itamonte, in Minas Gerais. The expected transfer time is approximately 4h30, depending on traffic and stops along the way. Upon arrival, accommodation at the hostel in a shared room with another person of the same gender, dinner and rest before the first mountain day. Included: private van transport from Barra Funda Station, shared accommodation and dinner.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 27/04/2027 – Agulhas Negras ascent
We will wake up at around 4:00 for breakfast, equipment organisation and a short briefing with the guides before departure, planned for around 5:30, towards the Upper Part of Itatiaia National Park. The objective of the day will be to climb Agulhas Negras, one of Brazil’s most emblematic mountains and the highest point of Itatiaia National Park, on a route that combines high-altitude hiking, rocky terrain and protected climbing sections. The approximate timing is 5 hours up and 2 hours down, with return to Picus Hostel around 15:30. Included: breakfast, trail snack, return transport between the hostel and the park entrance, park entrance fee, guides and safety equipment (harness, ropes, carabiners and technical equipment).
Day 3 – Wednesday, 28/04/2027 – Pico das Prateleiras ascent
On this day we do not need to leave so early; we will wake up around 7:00, have breakfast and leave around 8:00 towards the Upper Part of Itatiaia National Park. The objective will be Pico das Prateleiras, a classic mountain with a shorter approach, around 1 hour to the base, and more exposed sections, always managed safely with technical equipment and guidance throughout the activity. We expect to return to Picus Hostel around 16:00, with time to rest, have dinner at the hostel and enjoy a DJ set at the lodge in the evening. Included: breakfast, trail snack, return transport between the hostel and the park entrance, park entrance fee, guides, safety equipment (harness, ropes, carabiners and technical equipment), dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 – Thursday, 29/04/2027 – Picus Hostel → Tomorrowland Festival Itu
Departure planned for 7:00 for the private van transfer to Itu. The journey should take approximately 5 to 7 hours, depending on traffic, road conditions and the lunch stop along the way. Expected arrival in Itu is between 14:00 and 15:00. Included: breakfast and private van transport from Picus Hostel to Itu.
IMPORTANT NOTE: all timings are operational estimates and may be adjusted by the guides according to weather, mountain conditions, National Park rules, traffic and the pace of the group. The order of the activities may also be changed for safety or to make better use of the trip. If dangerous weather events occur, we will choose routes with less exposure, such as Pedra do Couto.

Equipment is one of the key parts of a successful adventure like this. Your equipment will be checked by the guide shortly after arrival.
